Penal Cases

Our Office was in charge of defense cases for crimes in different kinds, at all their stages and levels, including (the court of first instance, the court of appeal, the court of cassation) at the level of all UAE courts.

Moreover, our Office files the penal complaints, represent the clients before the Public Prosecution and submit the requests for provisional release on financial bail or personal bail. Our experience further extends to  criminal indemnification proceedings to compensate the client for damage due to the crime and obtain a judgment for compensation, whether before the penal courts or civil courts.

What happens after a criminal case is commenced?

The police will refer the complaint to relevant departments within the police station that are responsible for reviewing and opining complaints (i.e. electronic crimes departments, forensic medicine department).

Once the police have taken the statements of all parties and finalized their task, the complaint will be referred to the public prosecution, a judicial authority empowered to refer cases to the criminal court in the event the responsible prosecutor assigned to review the case finds that a criminal offence has taken place under the UAE Penal Code (Federal Law No. 3 of 1987).
